The Future is here, but then again, so is the past.
The M:Theory Universe spans multiple worlds in multiple "branes" or dimensions. Is it possible to pass between them? Possible, yes; it is however, both difficult and dangerous. What you find on the other side might prove to be a challenge as all the rules of reality differ.
Earth: Circa 2245
By 2245 the Earth as we know it today has been destroyed. While parts have been rebuilt better and newer, parts have been set back to the pre-industrial age, and parts are completely unlivable. Some parts are even dominated by sentient AI driven machines with a desire to kill or subjugate humanity. Or at least what is left of humanity. Less than 500 million remain on earth, and only about 30000 have spread to the permanent colonies on Mars and Proxima Centauri 3. Other smaller colonies exist but rely on constant re-supply.
Toelandar: A345 Y66
In a distant brane lies Toelandar; current to Earth year 2245, they are in Aera 345 Year 66 on the Thunavian calendar, though many kingdoms throughout this very large world hove their own. For instance, the Duchy of Kalimoor, in the far north east part of The Kingdom of Cairne, it is the year 1385 of the reign of Cairne Dynasty, or just 1385. Notable however is the fact that each year consists of 16 months of 40 days each with each day lasting 30 hours.
